When it works best. Thermal imaging needs cold weather to work well, ideally near freezing, with clear, dry conditions, and your heating on for most of the day. The bigger the difference between your warm home and the cold outside, the more clearly the heat loss shows. The programme runs through the coldest months from October.
Pick an available Monday to Friday below. We lend one camera at a time, so book early for the week you want.
Collect the camera from Forest Row Parish Council office at the Community Centre, open 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. Please bring photo ID. There is no deposit to pay.
Use the forecast on the calendar to pick your day. The green dots suggest the best days to scan. If the weather does not play ball, you can book again or ask to extend, if the camera is free.
With the heating on for most of the day, walk around inside and out taking images of windows, walls, doors, the loft hatch and any cold spots. Our how-to guide talks you through it, and it takes about half an hour.
Bring the camera back to the Parish Council office by 4pm on the Friday, so it is ready for the next person.
A member of the Forest Row Energy team reviews your images and sends you a friendly report explaining what they show and the practical, low-cost steps that would make the biggest difference.
The calendar shows when the camera is free and a weather suggestion for the days ahead. The weather is a forecast only, so treat the dots as a helpful guide, not a promise. Collections and returns are Monday to Friday only, when the Parish Council office is open.
